Get to know CollinWhat are you doing in school?
I graduated with my Master's in Music from the University of Maryland in Spring 2021. How long have you been singing in choirs? I have been singing in choirs since I joined the Children's Chorus of Maryland when I was in 4th grade. It's been a love affair with choir ever since. What is your favorite musical memory? Many of my Lux colleagues can attest that I don't have the greatest memory, so that is a difficult question. I find that my musical life has been full of so many great and treasured experiences that it would be hard to pick one. One of my most influential was when I got to sing in my first opera chorus when I very young, and then sing a few minor roles as a kid. Do you have any special talents or interests outside of music? Honestly, not many. Music is my life! I am fascinated by monks, so I read a lot of books about and by monks. Who is your favorite composer? Again, another extremely difficult question! I would say probably Herbert Howells. (or Byrd, or Gabriel Jackson, or Bach or...) Who is your favorite non-classical musical artist? Bill Evans What is your favorite thing about singing in Lux? I love getting to make music with my friends. It's a special bond as a lot of us have known each other for quite a while. What's your favorite song you've sung with Lux? Sweelinck, Hodie Christus Natus Est Breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast? Yes. If you could turn anything purple, what would it be? Sarum blue vestments into the proper Advent color which is purple. That's my controversial liturgical opinion. What's the most interesting fact about you? That I play the organ? Not sure, I don't think I'm particularly interesting outside of music What were you doing in the summer when you were in middle school? Reading, and of course attending my mother's at home math boot camp (I was never good at math) |
